Question
Where are checks silenced, what do those exceptions mean, and which ones deserve review?
Recipe
loct suppressions --summary
loct suppressions --type ignore --json
loct suppressions --type dead-code --json
loct suppress --list
The names refer to different stores. suppressions inventories exceptions in source to external checks: ignored tests, lint allows, unsafe blocks and similar constructs. suppress --list reads Loctree's own reviewed finding suppressions.
Expected answer shape
For source exceptions, retain the kind, location and reason when available. Keep generated files and fixtures distinct from first-party code. A count is an inventory; it is not a security finding or a measure of product readiness.
Decision
Choose an exception to inspect and identify the condition under which it can be removed or exercised. Preserve justified hardware, private-data and environment requirements. An ignored integration test may need a dedicated execution lane rather than deletion of its annotation.
Check the interpretation
loct slice tests/integration.rs --depth 1
loct find ignored_test_name --literal --limit 12
loct body ignored_test_name --max-lines 80 --json
Use the location returned by the inventory. Read the annotation and the test's setup. Distinguish a documented unavailable fixture from a test that conceals a known regression. Rust environment-variable unsafe boilerplate and other unsafe operations require different review questions.
Counterexample
An ignored test requiring a private PCM recording or signed native bridge does not automatically bypass a quality gate. A generated protocol file can contain many allow annotations without representing handwritten debt. Conversely, a brief comment does not prove that an exception is still justified.
Evidence
The September catalog repeatedly found the classified inventory useful across Rust, Python and web projects. October reporting likewise distinguished ignored tests with real prerequisites from alleged gate avoidance. Recheck applicability and generated-file labeling instead of interpreting totals as verdicts.
